Building on What Matters
Charis is a woodworking company providing custom residential, commercial and CNC routing and laser cutting solutions. Every project is an opportunity to build a relationship and expand our community. Our aim is to provide the best results through creativity, innovation and cutting-edge technology. Our true success is not measured by profit, but rather by providing customer experiences that exceed expectations.
Consistency is the key to gaining our customers’ confidence. That is why we have taken the time to implement tried-and-true processes that consistently deliver the highest quality. We take pride in going the extra mile and ensuring every interaction supports our customers in the right way.
Time is important. Keeping our word is even more important. We are committed to keeping our word by delivering on projects on or before the time promised.
Our Story
Doyle Davis and James Taylor have been business partners since 2002, when they formed their first cabinetry company. Although technology has changed through the years, their commitment to customer service and producing a quality product has only gotten stronger.
“We absolutely love getting to know our customers and creating a quality product that will stand the test of time,” Doyle says. “Whether a customer knows exactly what they want or need us to create the design, we enjoy every step of the process.”
The partners renamed their company in 2020 to better reflect their commitment to excellence. “Charis is the Greek word for grace,” James explains. “Our faith in God is very important to us both. We are commissioned to be wise stewards of what we have been blessed with.”
In addition to custom cabinets, Charis Woodworking offers a variety of other services, from custom-designed closets to vent hoods and built-in units. After investing in CNC woodcutting machinery, the company is able to create pieces that have a tighter, stronger fit. Charis Woodworking has also branched out to provide custom designs for commercial businesses and adventure vans.
“Custom cabinetry doesn’t have to be more expensive,” Doyle explains. “If you are designing something for a particular space that isn’t standard, then custom cabinetry is the way to go because you have more choices.”
Everything from design to installation happens under the Charis Woodworking roof, making it a true one-stop shop. “As things have changed in the industry, we are able to offer more options now than ever before,” James says. “If you can dream it, we will build it.”
About the Owners
Doyle Davis (pictured on left) and James Taylor both came to woodworking right out of school—high school for Doyle and college for James. Even though they each worked in different industries for many years, they came back to their roots to form their first custom cabinetry shop in 2002. “We worked on a few projects together prior to opening our own company, so it made sense to combine our talents,” James says. “We have different gifts and we are able to maximize those for the benefit of our customers.”
Over the years, the Charis Woodworking team has added a variety of high-tech tools in order to create 3D raised images, radius hoods, and custom-fit pieces. Their commitment to excellence includes using quality hardwoods for exteriors and plywoods for the interior. “Our equipment can take the design to the next level,” Doyle explains. “We love making our customers’ dreams reality.”
